TRAINING TIP
Dividers are used in dog kennels when you're raising a puppy. Dogs will naturally NOT want their solid waste in their bedding area. Use the divider to make the puppy have only a bedding area as it grows. If you leave too big of an area inside its kennel when it's still small, it will likely use the opportunity to relieve itself of solid waste. Watch for sniffing, circling and whining in combination or all together, then let your puppy out and bring it to an area where you'd like your dog to relieve itself for the rest of the time you live in that location. It should be a natural texture such as grass, dirt, or sand area, not an unnatural surface like cement or tile. Use up to a two word command to let it know to relieve itself like, "Go Poo!" or "Poo!" or a double click with a clicker, or a double whistle blow, a double whistle toot with a dog training whistle. After your puppy has done its business in the correct area, make sure you give it immediate praise (and lots of it) and even a treat! Remember, puppies are like human infants in at least one regard, they both can't hold it for long! The smaller and younger the puppy, the less amount of time it can hold its waste. Your dog or puppy will definitely soil its own bedding area if you leave it too long in its dog kennel or crate!
